This person will teach 12 credits or four courses during the fall and spring semesters totaling 24 credits. The hours per day will vary depending on his/her schedulePosition Summary Information Position Summary Special Education FacultySlippery Rock University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in the Special Education Department beginning August 2024.Responsibilities:The primary role will be teaching assignments will be in the Special Education undergraduate program as well as possibly the Applied Behavior Analysis specializations. Optimally, this applicant will also support accreditation, development of community partnerships and expansion of opportunities for student’s within our diverse repertoire of programs. Teach undergraduate and online graduate courses in special education, undergraduate and graduate advisement, supervision of field students, participate on dissertation committees, and participate in department, College of Education and university-wide committees, local, regional, and national presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. The assignment may include off-campus and/or web based instruction.Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in special education, behavior analysis, or related field (e.g., psychology). ABD candidates will be considered.

Direct service experience (teaching and consultation) with individuals with disabilities.

Expertise in applications of behavior analysis in school settings.

A history of positive working relationships with teachers, clinicians, administrators, and faculty.

Evidence of potential to be an excellent, productive scholar and researcher.

Evidence of potential to obtain extramural funding for research and/or training activities.

Three successful years of teaching experience in a Special Education setting.

Online teaching experience.

Successful performance in an on-campus interview, and a teaching demonstration are required. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in systems-level academic and behavioral interventions, including multi-tiered systems of support or other applications of behavioral principles to human service organizations.

BCBA or BCBA -D certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (or eligibility for certification by the end of the first year of employment).

Expertise in teaching strategies/behavioral acquisition.

Expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

Experience in field supervision, college teaching, classroom interventions, transition, collaboration, publications, presentations, and teaching online/web based courses preferred.

Specialization in special education teaching, preference will be given to those with experience in the use of Applied Behavior Analysis ( ABA ) to facilitate the success of students with disabilities in schools.
